February 20th - 23rd

I hope you all had a great 5 day holiday over Teachers convention and Family day. 

The kids came back ready to learn and have been reading so well! We have been doing some new word work in class and have been focusing on sounding out longer words. Keep up the home reading! 

In math we have started to learn about subtraction. So far, the kids have been very successful with subtraction using a number line. 

Just a reminder that we will have parent conferences on March 21st and 22nd. You will get a message when you are able to book a time. 

In buddies today, the kids got to work on ipads and were coding block code to direct a robot called "dashes".

 February 5th - 9th 

Happy February! It's a short month with Teachers Convention and Family day coming up. Next week there are only 3 days of school before 5 days off. See you back on February 20th. 

Our Grandfather teaching this month is LOVE and we have been focusing on kindness and ways to "fill other people's bucket". We made a map of our heart this week where they had to draw and label all the things that they love and that makes them happy. 

We are continuing to watch our Eagle nest - they have 3 eggs and are weathering a major snow storm currently. We got to see them bring a live fish to the nest the other day.  

Valentines day is on Wednesday. We're all getting excited about the day and have some fun activities planned. 

It's Chinese New Year this weekend - all the kids made lanterns in buddies today.

Happy Groundhog day! According to Punxsutawney Phil it will be an early Spring! 

We survived the very long month of January and are now half way through the school year! This month is going to be quick with Teacher convention being on February 15th and 16th and Family day on the 19th. 

It will be our 100th day of school on February 21st! We will be doing some fun activities in class that day. I'll let you know before hand if we require anything from home. 

Valentines day is coming up...please remember to address each valentine to "my friend" or leave it blank and please don't send candy. 

February is our month to focus on kindness. We will have a kindness tree in the school and when the kids get "caught" being kind, they get to add a heart to our tree. 

Our class has been watching a live YouTube camera of a bald eagle nest called "Big Bear Bald Eagle Live Nest Cam". Our eagles are names Jackie and Shadow and have laid 3 eggs! Please tune in on the weekend to check on our eagles.
