We have DUCKS!! We have had 4 hatch so far and they are named Lemonade, Bubba, Oreo and Cookies & Cream. 

We are having so much fun with our new classroom friends and they provide hours of entertainment! 

We did a community walk with our buddies today to Inukshuk park and completed a nature scavenger hunt along the way. We are planning to do another community walk to a different park next Friday (weather dependent) 

It's June next week! We will be wrapping up grade 1 before you know it! We have an animal research project planned and will be building animal diorama's so please save a shoebox or 2 as they will be needed in a couple weeks. 

Thank you to those who have sent in your child's baby pictures!! I have loved looking at each one as they arrive. Please have them in to me by Friday, June 7th. 

We will also be planting our class garden on Monday.

We had an EXCELLENT field trip to the zoo! Thank you to all the wonderful parent volunteers who came! we couldn't do it without you :) 

Our duck eggs are locked down in the incubator and should start hatching starting Monday! 

June is quickly approaching...We are still busy at work here in grade 1.

In science we will be planting a vegetable garden in the class this coming week and will continue to study our bean plants which are growing so quickly.

Next Friday depending on weather, we are hoping to walk down to the fountain park with our grade 4 buddies. 

Our last day for library book exchange will be May 31st so please remember to return all library books.

Happy Mother's Day!!! I hope you enjoy your child's gift! Please make sure to click on the QR code for a wonderful surprise! 

Our duck eggs are doing well and we are candling them every other day. 

This week we planted beans and after the long weekend we will be planting a class garden and learning about plants. 

In math we will be learning about balanced equations. (ex 3+4 = 6+1) Practice at home with your kids if you have time :) 

Our field trip to the zoo is coming up on May 23rd. Field trip forms will be going home on Monday. 

Just a reminder that next week is May Long weekend - there is NO school for kids on Friday May 17th and Monday May 20th.

 April 29th - May 3rd

Our duck eggs have arrived!! We have 8 eggs in our incubator and have been candling them every couple of days to see growth. They take 28-35 days to hatch so I'll keep you posted. 

Thank you to all who signed up to volunteer at the Zoo on May 23rd - it will be a fabulous day! 

We are starting our story writing unit and have been learning the format of "somebody, wanted, but, so, then" and have been writing stories. Soon we will begin to add more characters, settings and solutions. 

In SS we are studying and comparing "then and now". The kids have some homework to ask an older grandparent about their favourite toy and favourite memory from when they were kids. 

The weather is turning nicer so we hope to get outside to do some learning.
