 Happy last day of February!

This month flew by and it's so nice to see the bright sky in the mornings now - it feels like Spring is on its way!!

A few things to take note of...

1. Please label your child' jackets with their names - many kids have the same jackets and when they get taken off outside - it's hard to tell them all apart.

2. Please have an extra change of clothes in your child's backpack (pants, socks, shirt, underwear) We are heading into a wet and muddy season and it's very slippery out there still.

We are heading into March and St. Patrick's day! we are going to be building Leprechaun traps and kindly ask you to send a Shoebox OR a Cereal box in to build traps with. I have all the other materials that will be needed to build:) Please start sending in boxes ASAP and I'll store them in my back room.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend and get outside for some fresh air!

Cheers,

 February 21, 2025

I hope you all had a great extended weekend last weekend - it was so cold so at least we could all stay home and drink hot chocolate.

We have all really enjoyed being outside the last couple of days - just a reminder to have an extra pair of socks and pants in backpacks with the oncoming muddy/wet playground we're going to have...its still icy and easy to slip and fall.

We had an exciting guest this week - Firefighter Rebekah from the Chestermere Fire Department came in and spoke to us about her job. She brought her gear and clothing and the kids got to feel how heavy it all is. I sent home a sticker and a booklet from her today.

We are going to be starting 3D shapes in math and will be making some with marshmallows and toothpicks :)

In reading and writing we have started to learn about the "magic e" so if you could practice with the kiddo's over the weekend that would be great - it's been a hard adjustment going from CVC words with a short vowel in the middle to a long vowel in a CVCe word.

In SS we are still exploring rural and urban and in Science we are learning about movement and will begin our animal movement booklet this week.

I hope you all have a great weekend!

 February 7th, 2025

February is flying by! We started a new science unit this week about movement. We will be focusing on speed, direction and pathways of movement. We will also be creating a booklet of animal movements.

In Social Studies we are learning about communities. We are focusing on learning about Rural, Urban and Suburban communities.

We also did a very cool coding activity using the book, "The Mitten" by Jan Brett. The kids had to build a board in which they had to get their character from the start to the mitten while avoiding obstacles.

We also had a visit from our school liaison police officer, constable Mike, on Monday who presented a "filling your bucket" lesson. We talked about how to be kind to others and fill their bucket.

Just a reminder that there is school for only 3 days next week and then the kids are off for Teachers Convention and Family Day. We will be back to school on Tuesday 18th.

Have a great weekend!
