Hello and Welcome to the Blog!! 

We have had a fabulous week here in grade 1 and have been busy learning so much! I know that I've been going home tired so I'm sure your child has been tired too! 

We have perfected the routine of entry and exit from the school and the kids are pros at taking off their outside shoes now. We have been enjoying some extra outside time because the weather has allowed us to soak up some late summer sun! 

In Literacy, we are reviewing letters and their sounds and have started to learn some HEART words (the, is) and have been blending letters together to make words. We have also been working on rhymes and compound words. We have been practicing printing the letter A and M. 

In math, we have reviewed numbers to 10 and have written them in our notebooks, on whiteboards and with playdough. We will be starting patterns next week. 

In Social Studies - their first homework of grade 1 was sent home today - I am asking each child to fill up their "All about Me" bag to present to the class so we can get to know each other better :)
